Thanks Terry,
What i have done is i got 2x door pillar bolt/tubes (specially
for the seat belt top mount) from an early Toyota`s B pillar.
They actually look more like a small tube with a head at one end and an
internal thread. I kept the bolt that screws into the tube, drilled a hole
through the B pillar ( there is a hole already on the inside at
the right height) and mounted the retractable seat belt using the other original
mounting points too. Seems to work well.
I
was sick of being strangled by the original belt. Much happier now. I was
just curious if it needed to be looked at.
Kris.

Kris,
In
the ACT you only need engineering for seatbelts if you move/modify the anchor
points - so if you use retraceable belts say from an early Monaro or 200B SSS
which use the stock 1600 anchors you will not need a report. The variable/grey
bit in this is if you use seats from something like a Pintara U12 that
have the lower anchor point attached to the inner rail (slides back and forth
with the seats) but I've not seen any problems when these have been used
either.
I
imagine most other states are the same but in Vic? I'd check with any garage
that has a regd RWC mechanic on duty - you'll have a fair idea yourself what's
safe and what's not.
regards
Terry
Hi all,
Does anyone know
if you need an engineers report for retractable seatbets in a 1600 in Vic or
any other state?
Thanks,
Kris. --membersozdat-------------------------------------------------------
