get ready for a read, sorry okay i've just put a 240K 5 speed into my L20B 1600 and i have a few problems...
When i start the car up now my engine sounds like a truck! it doesn't run really rough or anything, although it just sounds like a diesel!! I have checked everything, the exhaust and carby seem to be bolted on tightly (had to take exhaust off to fit g/box in), all the bolts are good and tight etc... It is getting late, and i am very tired, but i don't see any reason why my car has started sounding so bad! Any ideas?? I didn't run the car for long because it sounded so bad, but i did move it forward in the garage to see that the clutch works, which it did, although...... There is also a banging or rattling coming from the g/box area... i am pretty sure this is the top of the box hitting the tranny tunnel as i need to cut the hole a little bigger at the front because this gearbox seems to sit a lot higher than my old one. The tailshaft i have used is the same one that was bolted up to another long box when i bought the car which i checked and was the same length as the 240K box. The tailshaft seems to be about an inch too short though, as it is slotted inside the gearbox, but not all the way... i dont remember if the tailshaft was like that with the old gearbox, but all i know is something is wrong.....my car sounds like crap, there is a loud banging, and i am too buggered to know why! Any help or ideas would be really good!
