I Think the re-furbished Zeds were solf for around 25,000 (US $) a few years back, and weren't the success Nissan had hoped. It would be great if Nissan were a little more supportive of their older models like BMW, Mercedes etc., who still seem to carry a good supply of NOS. Also if people didn't buy NOS in large quantity to make a profit, but I guess capitalism is king..Nissan NZ seem to have been pretty well cleanded out of most good NOS parts for a while and there is always a loud sigh when you ask for something :)

hi, who the heck would  pay 8 to 10 thousand for a body shell.?
after its  painted  nobody  is gonna know if it was a new shell or not  under the paint.
after spending another  7 to 10 thousand for a perfect paint job (  because any thing  less  than a perfect paint job on a new body shell is a waste)  thats already $16,000 plus dollars .......

and thats IF  it comes thru overseas without  any dents etc on it..
my brother has enough trouble at work getting a new bonnet  or door from japan  without dents in it ,.

This rumor has been around for some time. This rumor was also fanned buy an article on a Blue 2.4L 1600 in fast fours and rotaries. The article states that the owner found out that new rust free shells were available from Japan but at a price of 8-10K Aus $. I can find and scan the article if anyone wants it.

In relation to the Zed cars, Nissan America offered a program wherebuy selected 240Z's were picked, and fully refurbished then offered for sale from Nissan Dealers. I remember seeing the ads etc in the magazines Popular Mechanics and Popular Science. Would have been nice to score a neat ZED car !!! Alan Stean would approve !!

We had that rumour as you say, about 3 years ago. It was proven untrue, but

some concluded it came from the States , where there at the time, there was

a company recycling Zeds by refurbishing the shells and rebuilding the

mechanicals. Some suggested 1600's were getting a similar interest but we

>couldn't confirm this.
