Start at the Temp sensor clip, make sure it is tight. (The Temp
sensor is in the thermostat housing.)
If thats not it, try and follow the wire back into the loom
to see if there is any worn part of it. If nothing,
its either a dodgey sensor or gauge.

Subject: temp guage

> G'day people,
>
> My temperature guage on my 1600 has been cutting in and out for ages and
just recently it has decided to not work at all.
> To try and fix this i looked at the temp/fuel guage maintenance page on
the dime quarterly website, and i took the guage out and cleaned all the
contacts etc (which were pretty dirty) and then went to test the guage like
the page tells you to. It says to put 12 volts across each guage and that
they should then are supposed to read full.
>
> The only problem is, the four tracks on my temperature guage circuit are
all joined somehow?? I didn't put the 12-volts across them as i didn't want
to short it out.
> Two of them are meant to be joined, as they are the positive for both the
fuel and the temp guages, but the other two should be seperate as they are
the respective earths for each of the guages. But somehow, on my guage all
four tracks are joined to each other?!?!
> Despite this, I decided to put the guage back in to see if i had done
anything to fix the situation, but surprise surprise only the fuel guage
still works :(
> Can anyone offer some suggestions as to why my temp guage won't work? I'm
guessing it is to do with all the contacts being common, but i don't know
enough about guages and stuff to work out what to do to fix it. Any help
would be appreciated!
