Exhaust tape may be good for keeping the heat down but it will shorten the life of your extractors and will void any warrenty you have on them.
The heat shield option is an ok way to go if you can find one, the aftermarket one I looked at seemed pretty useless, it was what seemed a gasket type materal that you bolted on in place of the regular gasket after the throttle butterfly and before the airbox, problem was it sat vertical and I think most the heat is not radiant but um.. the other type with rising air, so that would be useless.
I simply had two peices of heat resistant fabric cut out about 15x6cm or so and placed them so they sat under and on the engine side of the fuel bowls, held on with plastic ties. It worked the treat, never had any vaperisation from it since (not even sitting at the lights for 2mins in the middle of summer) and it only cost me $8 bucks. Bargan!
Hope that helps,
James Cox
Is there any other way to stop the heat in the engine bay, I can notice a huge differance on hotter days. Whats that exhaust tape (wrap or whatever they call it) like?Richard
