The extra lead coming off the heavy gauge +ve lead would be for the fusible
link (big fuse) and the black one coming of the -ve lead is a secondary
earth. The heavy gauge lead (+ve) is only used to supply current to the
starter, the general power for the vehicle is supplied via the much smaller
lead.

hey guys
replacing battery leads the other day and i notice that my existing ones
have a yellow wire attached to the connection and it seems to lead to a
fuse.  whats this fuse for?  and on the new leads there is a red wire coming
off the terminal.  i figure this is the same wire as the one on my prevoius
lead???  any help would be appreciated sorry for the silly question.
