Guys

I am looking at painting the 1600 soon and was after some advice.

I would like to get a 2pak job and after some advice from painters and guys who have painted their cars it seems the smartest option is to take her back to bare metal and wheel her into a shop.

The car has been painted about a year or two ago in acrylic. The body id DEAD straight, a painter here in ACT verifed this for me. He actually said he would paint 2pak over the acrylic paint. The paint is just a little rough in some spots plus i am not a huge fan of the colour.

So.

1. What is the best way to get her back? I need to do the door jams, engine bay, inside bonnet and boot lids. I have tar on the floor pan and in the boot and have been advices to leave it as is. ie don't strip it off.

2. Can i do any work myself after getting her to metal before i give her to the shop to lower costs?

3. How do i do inside the guards and underneath? I don't want a mirros under the car at shows job but i want to get rid of all the grim and muck and stonegaurd type stuff. Plus the guards have a blueish tint underneath which probably wont go with say a black or silver job.

4. Should i wash with soapy water and acid wash after getting her back to bare metal?

5. Lastly does anyone have a recommendation for a good paint shop in the ACT?

thanx all

Hi everyone,

I saw some Datsuns at Summernats yesterday, mainly 1600s, didn't check the
plates however, just wondering if anyone off here was in attendance, with
their car or not. I did see one ACTDATer in his black Zed in Braddon on
Friday however.

For those of you who didn't go, it was a really great event this year, much
more family orentated and less 'blokey' than last year, also a near record
number of attendance and entries this year, some 1500 cars and 31,000 ppl on
Saturday alone!

Catch ya later

Subject: Dying Clutch, ACTDAT & Datto Spotting

My 1600's clutch is on it's last legs and of course it would have to be during the holiday period : ( So providing it survives long enough where's a good place to go to get it fixed? Preferably in the Belco area...

What's happening with ACTDAT? I haven't heard anything for a long time, are we in summer slack mode?

Also, seen in the mall carpark (before Christmas) closest to the police station a yellow 1600 with YCD 09Q plates. On Tuesday (Christmas eve) I was spotted by a white 1000 deluxe with a "class of  '68" sticker on the back window, pulled up beside me and gave a thumbs up. Made my day that did : )

One last thing, anyone interested in buying my virtually stock 808 sedan? $300.... also lookng for a cheap 1200 ute, but they don't seem to exist!

- Sorry for the long post,

Robyn '69 1600 sedan
