Paul. I would remove the strut insert if you, or someone else have replased them with cartridges, as lots of people unfortunatly put the wrong length ones in, they always seem to be too short and clunk from time to time. Datsuns seem to have different length strutts from year to year, so they may of been right in the book, but still are a little too short. The ones in my wagon were over a inch too short, everytime I went over a large bump, it the insert would be extended the full length, then when the car went down on the insert, it would bottom out inside the strut.
