I have always wanted to have a go at it. I would assume it would cost big $$$ though, and probably much cheaper (and about 2 weeks quicker) to buy a premade one. One thing I wouldnt look forward to is putting all the connectors on. But if I had the time, space and money each of which you'd need a LOT of, I would do it. Nothing like driving a car that has been totally hand built by only one person to A-grade quality.
