That doesn't surprise me one iota as the 8 valve CA18 was a sad engine and they belong in wrecking yards - on the other hand the CA18DE & DET engines are sweet and very much underrated, even the S13 NA version with 130hp in a 1200 is a real screamer. The S12 briefly used the non-intercooled CA18DET (144hp), S13 came with 174hp intercooled version, U12 used both versions, 4WD were 174hp i/c, S13 were all i/c. The NA version was used in both S12 & S13 and also in an Aussie Exa for a while but it was fairly heavy for a small car and it killed the performance a bit and it's a pity that the U12 4WD turbo engine is so hard to fit in these.

Did the S12 ever come with a CA18DET? What cars did use it? --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
