Modification plates?

Hey listers, just have a question. when i put in my L20B into my 1600, 
obviously i should change the brakes from the standard no booster setup to a 
twin master booster, and the bigger struts, but i heard from somewhere that 
because the motor bolts straight in, that it is not required to get a mod 
plate, now is this true, as that would be good to save money.  I am in 
Queensland, is there any others who have done a 1600/L20B conversion in QLD, 
if so, what choice of struts did you choose/or what did qld transport 
require you to do for it? Thanks guys...
