I allowed for it, the SSS heads are 42cc if you get them un-prepped and you could actually get them like that but only as bare replacements. In my time at Lennocks it was quite amusing to watch some ppl being quite particular about which head they bought for their 180SSS beaters, most ppl just took what we gave them - they were that shocked as in speechless when they were told the price anyway.

Some of the early L18SSS engines came from the Japanese factory with the head machined down to the minium mark, so if there was a problem with it once you were out of warranty then that was that - I'm guessing you've seen some of these and that's what you're referring to. The CCV of an A87 head machined down to the marker was ~39cc from memory - long time ago, I could be wrong but I'm sure that's close.

David,

The chamber volume of a stock (as in unshaved) A87 or V912 closed chamber (CC) head is 41cc, open chamber L20B heads are 45.2cc (U67 OC and some other number that I can never remember etc), 210 & 219 CC are 36cc,  W53 CC heads as found on PA10 (Stanza L16) are 39cc - also there are a few A87 open chamber (OC) floating about from Japan that are also 45.2cc but these are pretty rare in Aus but common in the US of A.

Terry
