usually, if a dissy has just 2 wires coming out of it, it is a reluctor type setup...e.g a spinning maganet spins past a coil of wire, the magnet iduces a voltage in the coil , via this u get your triggering pulse for the electronics to trigger the coil.
if you have a dissy with 3 wires , then more than likely it will be a hall effect setup, this works when a spining maganet spins past a semiconductor that detects magnetic fields, one wire is output, the others are power and earth. if you have a dissy with (i think?????) 5 wires , more than likely this is a optical setup, there is a chopper disc and two LEDS, one is a transmitter , and the other is a receiver, a chopper disc with holes/slots spins in between the two LEDS there by breaking the light beam , and sending a pulse. mark k ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Greenbury" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 1:03 PM Subject: Re: another dizzy question (L18EFI) > Hi Mark, > > Dunno to be honest (havent looked yet) as I thought Id ask if anyone > had any advice first - I figured there must be a couple more to indicate > crank reference points. > > Andrew > > > hi, how many wires coming out from the volvo dissy, ? > > mark k > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Andrew Greenbury" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 11:40 AM > > Subject: another dizzy question (L18EFI) > > > > > > > Hi List, > > > > > > Im soon to install the factory EFI setup to my L18 - I wish to run the > > > standard computer initially before switching to aftermarket.
