Now don't start me up about KYB and I don't agree with who ever said that
Koni suck, and you don't buy them because the sales dickhead says they're
the best because you can rebuild them, by the time you need to rebuild them
it aint worth the trouble. I've got Koni in the Toy tank, the original oh
what a feeling you beaut KYB's lasted 7 years which I suppose is average, I
might have been a bit hard on KYB but when they died I got a genuine quote
at $400 a corner ***sigh*** I looked up a mate who flogs Koni to the masses
and they were $250 a corner and after 10 years of running they have just
been adjusted up to 50% at xmas time for the annual haul of the family and
camping stuff down the coast. There were no leaks or anything, although one
of the piston bumpers on the rear is looking stressed and I must try to find
some replacements - my experiences with Koni over the years have always been
good. Tokico golds are supposed to be OK too, we run Alumina on the Sports
Sedan which could even be the same thing - not sure. The other shocks for
the rear of a 1600 that are the ducks guts are TRD off the AE86 Sprinter but
these are extremely exy, magic shocks that you wont break and they're worn
out when the valving gets noisy in cold weather, but in a 1600 who cares
about a little more noise in the rear end.

regards
Terry
