Malcolm, The L18W block doesn't have the Z boss under the exhaust, or the multiple dipstick positions. This block is different as it has dipstick positions one on each side at rear and again on each side at the front. It has the Z series casting boss on the exhaust side.
The main advantage is that when you look in through the welsh plug holes, there is no space between bores just a thick cast web, and the outer diameter of the bores is same as Z24. This looks like it would take a 92mm piston? I want to do a sonic test to work out casting thickness. Water gallery drillings are also different to normal L20B, Z20E or Z22 blocks.
