hi, first thing u will have to do is, make sure the needles are the exact same length sticking out the dashpot. get a small steel rule , anything with a straight edge, then put it right up against the needle so that the rule runs across the bottom of the dash pot, loosen the screw in the dashpot that holds the needle.then pull the needle so that the shoulder of the needle buts up against the rule, then titen grub screw. if the needle is sticking up , i.e shoulder of needle is abouve bottom of dashpot, it will have to be adjusted so that the shoulder is level with bottom of dashpot.
the needle slides into a brass tube, and then the tube is adjusted up or down to get the idle mixture right. for a start adjust the tubes so that they are pretty well all even . TRY it so that the top of each tube is about 1-2 mm below the bottom of the throttle bore. then reset all su linkages . lossen/adjust the throttle plates so that they are completely closed then adjust each one by the same amount so that each plate is cracked open by a little. then adjust each brass tube to get correct mixture . a bit of plastic tubing put in your ear, and the other end just in front of the su, adjust till the hissing is the same. the adjusting like this MAY not always work like this, u might have to just adjust so that the engine is running smooth. hope this helps. the main thing is to make sure the throttle plates are each opened the same ammount , otherwise if one so throttle plate is open more than the other u will never get it to a tuneable state.... mark k ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Sidaway" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Ozdat List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 10:45 PM Subject: Tuning SUs > Just wondering if there's anyone on this list living > in the sydney area who could give a mate and I a hand > with our Zcars.
