Andrew

the one in the engine bay which is right above the drivers wheel arch
not sure if there is one near the tank - will check it out as the fuel lines
are not original.
the one in the engine bay is before my electric fuel pump, not near the
carbs
so when i take the filter off it should be a clear line straight to the tank
hence i expected to have gushing petrol !

thanks again Jeff

Jeff,

Just to confirm a few things, are you talking your fuel filter in a position
under the tank/before the lines to the front of the car, or in the engine
bay/just before the carbs?

Because if you check the flow at both these positions, you can better
isolate the area where a blockage may be ie in the tank, or in the lines,
and so maybe not remove the tank unnecessarily.

Remove the fuel hose from the metal line in the RHF wheel well as fuel
should definitely flow from gravity at that point if there arent
restrictions.
