YES YES YES
My rock solid 510SSS only sideways movement is in
the tyres.
I ripped the car open under the rear seat were the
wheel arch meets the floor on both sides,,(just jacked it up removed the wheels
very big hammer ,sledge, the welded it all up) , the factory spots arnt that
good.
Also the front chassis rails fall off,, they have
to be seam welded,(easy to do ,juck it up remove the wheels run the angle
grinder down the seam and get out the mig) also the front bits where the
rods bolt up the front spot lets go and these drop off as well..
240K front legs,,
Shortest ones Nissan made that 100% bolt in a
510.Heaviest spring rate Nissan made for a car.The early ones are 271mm the
later are 264/254?mm same diff,Very good upgrade...cailper is fine on both, but
you can use the Toyots RN46 4 pots 100% bolt on and use.
Some people I see use holden (Hold On
Love Da Engine Naffed) Brakes ,,not
needed, waste of dosh..I've driven 510's with 910 vent front brakes and why
bother?..240K work O so well. stock 510 brakes are not good.
Brakes??. Thats why we have gearbox's,,
Malcolm
I drive with my foot on the gas..I know a few
people that will not come for a drive in my
1600..must get it back on the road..

Subject: Tokico rear shocks
Hi all,
I did a tyre rotation on my road-going 510 the
other day. While pulling off the rear wheels I suddenly realised it would be
very easy to change the shock absorbers. I've had a pair of Tokico Prodrags
sitting in the shed for the last year that I bought (they had been "slightly
used for 2 weeks") off an ex-rally guy. He said he reckons they were the last
new pair sold in WA. I weigh 100kg and when I tried to compress them by
putting all my weight on them, I could only just get them fully depressed.
They are pressurized and both come back at the same rate...nice.
So I pull out the old shocks which were great for
speeding over speedhumps, useless for cornering. Once off, they were like bike
pumps, very stuffed and not gassed or the gas was long gone. Popped in the
Tokicos and OMIGOD!! Amazing difference as you would expect. Totally different
car, cornering is now fun - instead of inducing fear and seasickness in my
passengers! When I go over a hump I am now worried that they are going to push
right through the mounting towers in the boot! Is this
a valid concern? The guy said they were excellent for rallying, not
so well suited to cruising on the street.
Anyway I like 'em and they got rid of that
mystery squeak from the back.
Now for the fronts....There are 2 pairs
of 240K front struts in the shed, are inserts still readily available for
them? If so, does anybody have any recommendations? One of the 240K pairs has
adjustable height spring perches but no springs, calipers, discs or hubs. What
hubs will fit? Any info appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob
