i suppose though to look on the bright side the silicon probably just went
through the engine without damaging it

I can tell you this for sure about silicon and fuel...

Had my carby re-coed before the Winton 3 hour and the twit used aircraft
silicone in there somewhere.

It basically broke down/melted and caused my car to stop 2 hours in!!!

Not happy!
