8 for car and 8 on my four tail light assemblies. My car is a '72 and
donor car is a '71. Quite odd as if the panel was re-made and redrilled
or some thing. Just seeking to verify that drilling the body so I can
bolt the lights up would be best rather than hack-saw the bolt off?

Do your tailights have 6 or 8 bolts to hold them onto the body?
Early (Made in Japan) 1600's had 6 and later versions had 8. May be
you
have the wrong tailights for your beaver panel?

Subject: tail light hole not lining up
Fitting bumpers and lights this w/end I was dismayed to find just one
hole not lining up with the mount bolts on the RHS tail light -
explains the single 'drain hole' in the chrome surround there, someone
just drilled out that bolt to get the light on. I don't how this is -
holes are mostly intact, with only very slight elongation in one or
two. Can't swing it sideways enough to line the one that is out up.
I hate butchering things up...what to do:
1. drill another hole, which will be 1/8" or so from the orig so may
just end up elongated orig and need big washer
2. hack-saw that bolt off and forget about it
As it's one of the top holes I prefer to have one to tighten up
otherise it won't pull the seal in tight to keep water out, #1 looks
to
be it...just hate bodging up the car. Spent an hour polishing all the
chrome and fitting new inner chrome inserts...simple job now holding
out overnight while I think about....
Mark.
