I agree.  Although I like the round dials in the later dash design, the
quality of the dash in the earlier design is better, but has more metal face
and is less safe in an impact.  The detailed shape, apart from the
rectangular speedo, in the early dash is also better in my view. It a
personal opinion thing, biased by some really nice customising I saw on an
early shaped dash.
