I wanted to enter speed on tweed & leybourne, but im not organised enough yet.
those guys want the oil catch can, wired sump plugs, tail shaft loop etc cause they are speed events on public roads (even though their closed). you wont need those things for hillclimbs & qld raceway sprints.  CAMS actually says you dont need a lot of that stuff if your car is road registered, but the organisers have it in their supp regs so I assume that they want it included.
hopefully next year I can enter both events.
going to try to enter noosa hillclimb this year.
best thing about those events is that historic type cars get preference for entry lists :)

cheers Jeff

If it's the kind with a drain going back to the sump, it shouldn't really matter what the capacity was - what would be more important is the level of filtering provided. But I guess logic like that has no bearing on a CAMS regulation :p

Are you entering the speed on tweed? That sure looks like a fun event.

Jeff,

Here is one that I recently bought for $165 and it's proper flash so you should be able to get a plain functional job for $100:

I'm not sure if the above can is actually 2L in capacity so I'll have to check that out - bloody hope so! I wasn't aware of the 2L requirement.

Turbophile have DIY instructions if you are keen for a bit of welding:
In the technical section -> Oil Catch Can

As for other sources - I've seen a coke bottle used :-)

Regards
David

Hey list - I need to organise a 2.0 litre oil breather catch can.

there are some cheap kits available for $100.00
but the cans are only small, less than 1.0 ltr
anybody tried to make one from another source ?
got iny idea's about where i could scrounge a 2.0 ltr alloy tank that i could modify ?
the 2.0 ltrs is a cams requirement.
I dont fancy spending $300.00 for no performance gain

any help greatly appreciated.

cheers Jeff
