It's a '77 model but I'm sure it's japanese (says made in japan and the chassis number is 00000030) and it has a solid axle. If it's japanese then they must have made solid at the same time as independant, which would lead me to believe you can bolt either on... a man can dream anyway.

Can you retro fit IRS into a solid axle built car?  Probably but I suspect
it would be a major engineering job to fix in the IRS cross member properly.
