Mine has got a bit of rubber hose over where it would rub, stops the rubbing but means the cable will lift the exhaust a little with the handbreak on. Probabally worthwhile if it is cutting through your cable though.

Subject: damn hand brake cable...2.5 hours later didn't even fix my orig problem

Was just stuffing about trying to get my car on ramps to retap my front sway bar mount with new 3/8 thread in the old 8mm nut - story in itself!
I hate driving on ramps with HD clutch and noone around the front watchin...anyways I yank the hbrake and it comes out almost into my lap...wtf? reef it once more car is creeping back down, geez something wrong back there. Back down and have a look snapped the lhs rear cable...ok grab one from the 'spares' car. Hmm no diff in that one so she's sitin' pretty low...get stock jack, then trolley jack, oh back up to the garage for chassis stands, get cable out...50 mins already (hmm since it up there lets get those nice Bilsteins out for the turbo beast as well - must be special little tool better than shifter for the top of those?!) 1 hr 20mins. Move jacks, tool box etc. up from back of place to driveway start over and install cable, great shes' fixed! Wife calls "DINNER", the sun has set and work is over got no where near the sway bar!

Cable snapped right where it passes under my 2.5" exhaust, doesn't really rub hard but heat and friction combined is the problem. There are slight tell-tail marks on the exhaust but not excessive Since it nearly clears it going under there's no point trying to go over the top it would be rub much harder. Wondering how this works especially with 3" exhausts etc and what your 1600 is like or is my exhaust just a bad shape and need improving to be way up close the the body as it bends around there?

Mark
