It was cheaper and more timely to fill the holes with the emblem, rather than wait for later non-hole tailpanels

Some have Both ,,one on rear pan above number plate light and one on the boot lid..
One of the factory 510SSS rally cars had both. In 1970 car #4 , I'm also sure all model made diecast or Plastic also have both badges.
Probley hence why your 1970 has the above the number plate ,,Some do some dont???.. Parts book shows both for 1970 ,,I think with out looking.going from memory
