Hi all,
I finally tracked down a Subaru VLSD in a
4.444 ratio with the intention of putting it in my '72 510 street car. I think
it came from an automatic RS Liberty (Legacy in Japan) '91-'92. The
clutch pack LSDs found in pre-1991 Subarus seem to be rare and usually
only a 3.7 ratio but are the easiest to fit into a 510 due to the "bolt-in"
half-shaft axle stubs being identical to the Datsun ones. AFAIK all
Subi Viscous LSDs after '91 have internal circlips holding the axle
stubs in, which is what I have. Can anyone give me tips on modifying this
arrangement to fit my 510, given that I don't have the Subi half-shafts? I have
plenty of spare 510 R160 diffs and half-shafts to cannibalise for parts.
Cheers,
Rob P
