If an 18RGEU is a 2 litre Toyota, Yamaha headed
Twin Cam, which I think were first fitted with twin solex side draft
carbs, those engines with gearbox do fit space wise, and look very
original, PROVIDED you mill the "Toyota" name off the cam cover (I've
seen it done, in the 1980's when Nissan twin cams were pretty
rare).
Of course "convention" is to use a Nissan
badged replacement heart for that "evolution" effect (plus cheaper and used
less often, replacement parts). It
probably helps resale value too, but a freebie engine/trans is a big cost
saver.
By the way, if the engine is any good it will
fly, and "those" engines have a real bark at high revs.

Sell the combo and get something Nissan. The
18rg is only an 8 valve engine. While they can be made to go pretty well,
you will never get the same power you will from an SR or even
CA.

Can anyone tell me if the 18RGEU fits into to
a datsun 1600 ? Or anyone that has done this
conversion before. If so is it an easy fit or
is there a lot of mods to be done ?
I was given one of these motors complete with
5 speed box, computer and wiring.
