Some do use a butterfly and control the fuel rack position with a diaphragh , eg toyota 2H diesel.   If you turbo a diesel you should  get the pump and rack recalibrated to take advantage of the greater air flow.   DIESELTEC in Lilydale (outer melbourne ) are geting 120 RW Kw's from Nissan 3 litre diesels fitted with big intercoolers and biiiigg turbos! Very impressive performance from a diesel. They specialise in hotting up diesels and are a part of the same building as EFI DYNAMICS. As far as i know diesel engines dont use a throttle butterfly on the intake manifold.
