depends what size T28bb he has, i would take alot to spin a 450hp T25GT
or T25GT40, or T28RS71 they seem to be all the same turbo,

The boost was at about 10 pounds due to the 3” exhaust, and the ecu is bog stock – no chips.. To read 5 pounds I just give it a wide open throttle till 5ish thousand revs… If I quickly follow with another big rev it gets up to 7 or 8 pounds!

I’m pretty impressed seeing as the turbo is slightly larger than the standard one yet it is still able to spin it up with no load J I thought something was wrong but apparently not! I asked a mate with a unfinished CA18DET 1200 with a standard T25 to try it on his and he read 4 or 5 pounds he said.. I know another guy with a CA 1200 wagon with a T28bb and he will get 1 or 2 pounds at best, strange because I would have thought the bb would help it spool up nice and quick??

what chip do u have in the ECU?

 

and what sort of free rev are you doing, just a quick stab

or up 6000rpm?

my mates wrx could make 5psi with a couple of quick revs over 5000rpm (TO4)

Is it normal to be able to build boost when free reving the engine?? I can build 5 pounds with one full rev, and up to 7 pounds with repeated revs…

Other turbo cars I have seen can’t build any at all or can only build 1 or 2 pounds!

The engine is a CA18DET with factory ecu and a t25g..

Is this a bad thing that I can build so much boost?? It runs a bit rough at idle, but I made 140rwkws so I am guessing it can’t be too bad??
