if you intend to do motorkhana's the hydraulic handbrake setup might
come in
handly.
yeh the only problem that i could see with the R31 handbrake is the
"outer"
of the cables is too long.

Thank for the info Richard, I went and had a look at the Datsport site and they have some great photos showing the conversion. As you say it is just the cables that go to the curved bracket that is the only real problem.

I have the R31 discs lying beside a 1600 rear end on the garage floor
at
present. I have the R31 hand brake cables attached to the calipers.

I think it looks easiest to simply connect the two R 31 cables
together,
across the cross member, and use the 1600 front cable and lever set
up,
basically the same setup as the 1600 drum rears.
This idea just needs the cable outer casing locating lugs to be
relocated on
the trailing arms to locate the ends of the R31 outer cables, and the
cables
joined at the right length after feeding through the the 1600 cable
end
bracket - the curved shaped braket that shares the pull evenly between
each
rear brake.

Gday Jeff,
Hilux is worth looking into by the sounds of
it.What
did you do for the handbrake cable for the r31 discs. Did you get a
cable specially made.
I have just got the discs and caliper mounted for the moment.

i have recently done the R31 disks and was thinking haydraulic
handbrake as
well.
it was suggested to me that a Hilux handbrake would do the job as it
was
already hydraulic ???????

G'day everyone, Can anyone tell me what size master
cylinder
i should use for a Hydraulic handbrake on my 180b. I am installing
r31
discs on the back as well. I think some people use 5/8?

Cheers MarkO
