You can use either 5/8" rose joints or 3/4" rose joints and sleeve them down to shaft size.
The thread section on 5/8 joints is 5/8" (pprox 16mm) and on 3/4' rose joints is 3/4" etc.
Use a threaded 4140 threaded sleeve section to weld into the armsand plate over it.
Dont forget a test hole drilling to ensure that the rod end is not screwed out past 1.5 times thread diameter :-).

Subject: Re: Thread Diameter

There were two sizes.  Earlly imports 67/8 models had the smaller dia.  Mark is probably right at 20mm.  Later models 69/72 had the larger dia.  Maybe 25.mm?  (I didnt think it was this big a difference)

1600 rally car builders used to swap the early drag link, tie rods and all ball joints to the later versions for the extra strength,  Early drag links were known to bend under hard use ie rough tracks at high speed.  (Hitting the odd inside/outside embankment didnt help).  Some builders welded angle iron along the drag link to stiffen it, this usually meant the tie rods bent instead.  ----- Original Message -----

Never measured one, but from memory the ones i've seen have been about 25mm OD... A mate had a set that had a smaller thread of probably 20mm and they survived in his car fine.. i would probably try and stick to something 25mm or bigger...
