Hi Terry.  A bit of forensic work to do?

I can support you that for sure its not a 1600SSS.

Looking at the cluster it does have strong design similarities to Dattos of the 70's and very early '80s.  The simple screw fixing of the cluster to the dash metal work, and the curved clear perspex cover screwed over the instruments is typical of that era of Datsun design.

(A tip.  You can create new perspex covers if yours is badly scratched.  Using flat 3mm perspex from a glazier, curve to shape using the old one as a template, use a heat gun to warm it for shaping.  Drill the holes to screw it on to the cluster and your instruments will look like new again.  Be careful when drilling the holes as they are often angular and it's trickey to get them in the right places.)

Back to forensics.

The tacho redline seems to start at 6000? suggesting its a 6 cyl. engine.  The 240KPH calibrated speedo dial also indicates its from a 240K or similar six, definately not a four cylinder model, and its later than 1972,  when all cars sold in Aust went to metric calibrations, that again rules out 1600's.

240 K's and Zeds had three smaller instruments to the left of the two big ones, so this makes me guess its could be a '78 - '82 Skyline?

Hi Folks,

Anyone know what sort of a Datto (if a Datto at all) this comes out of - I'm sure that I've seen one of these before but just can't place it. It's advertised as a 1600 SSS which it is definitely not.

120YGX may be?
