I've been thinking about the client libraries too. The binary tree is nearly ready to be tested by the community but not enough libraries in different langauges support the binary protocol atm... Although it should now be easier to support the binary protocol with Trond's updated protocol documentation (with examples). To get the Perl folks started, I've been working on making Cache::Memcached support the binary protocol for the past week and this is nearly done. I'll throw it to Dormando for review after testing it with the complete binary tree (I'm still completing the stats subcommands over binary protocol). I'll get these done before the hackathon :) Oh and October 12th sounds good. Would it be possible to fix the date within the next week or so? I'm saying this because I need to ask the company to book my flights soonish...
