It's not so much an issue about the age/speed of the hardware as it is hitting platforms and instruction sets. I don't know anything about ArchLinux, but surely a welcome contribution if you think there's anything sufficiently different about it. It would be undesirable to have a large number of very similar systems unless we actually add distribution packaging steps (which is really quite a good idea).
