The main issue I see is that we just don't have problems with libevent. At least, we haven't had any problems that end up being tracked down to libevent (aside from redhat packaging impossibly old/buggy versions). If we hit some sort of performance/feature wall we'd consider changing, but for now it ain't broke. I think we should attempt to embed libevent in the distro though. Get around the "har har I run ancient shit for no good reason" thing. -Dormando
