I don't know why the source is difficult to find (but I believe you). It really shouldn't be.
Yeah, just seems to be missing. http://screencast.com/t/dW43j5NSWQqI found a reference to a github repo for membase somewhere after drilling around in the "How to contribute" pages, but no mention of couchbase source.
