Hmm.. I kind of saw it the other way. I actually misunderstood it the first time I tried to do something with it. The c idiom of truth meaning error confuses me when it's combined with a success flag where false means error.
But, that's just me. commit it in either way.
I'll comment and commit it while I have it working. If someone else finds two returns clearer working in here, I won't feel bad about it.
Of course, if I can get protocol negotiation working, this whole thing will be moot.
