It's an intensive one week course on the history of Yiddish theater that will run July 20-24. From the blurb: This course surveys the history of Yiddish theater from its origins in premodern Jewish folkways into the present, from the popular theater of Avrom Goldfaden and New York's Second Avenue to the artistic achievements of the Vilna Troupe and the Moscow State Yiddish Theater. We will read theater history, study plays,and watch excerpts of performances.
