Mendele Personal Notices & Announcements Feb. 16, 2010
To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests: 1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance. 2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding, or attachments;and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line. 3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames. ______________________________________________________________ Date: Sun, 14 Feb 2010 16:52:40 -0500 (EST) From: ZELDA NEWMAN <[email protected]> Subject: Addendum to posting on recording of hassidic Yiddish Here's the rest of the informaion on how to access the recordings of Hassidic New York Yiddish on talkbank.org Here's what you do: 1) click on CABANK 2) Under DATABASE click on "playback without downloading". 3) in the next window, on the left hand side, you'll see a batch of languages listed alphabetically. Yiddish is at the bottom of the list. As of now there are two recofdings: one af a young man under 30, one of a young man slightly above 30. I'll be happy to have folks listen and suggest corrections of the transcriptions. Transcriptions are extraordinarily difficult and time-consuming. Every time I listen, I change something. Suggestions for change are welcome. Zelda Kahan Newman _______________________________________________________________ Please do not use the "reply" key when writing to Mendele.
