Mendele Personal Notices & Announcements December 2, 2010
To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests: 1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance. 2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding, or attachments;and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line. 3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames. Date: Mon, 15 Nov 2010 20:56:30 -0500 From: Maddy Simon <[email protected]> Subject: Transliterated texts I am the leader of a vinkl in Pleasantville, NY. There are approximately 15 people in the group, some of whom read Yiddish and some who do not. In order to give everyone a chance to read in Yiddish, I transliterate every story I present so that the non-Yiddish readers can join in, un kenen oysredn a Yiddish vort (and can speak some Yiddish words). If you are interested in the transliterations, I would gladly share them with anyone. I use the Yivo system of transliteration. I have transliterated stories by I.L.Peretz, Sholem Aleichim and others. Please contact me at [email protected] or by phone at 914 631-2198 if you are interested..
