MENDELE PERSONAL NOTICES & ANNOUNCEMENTS Feb. 9, 2016
To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests: 1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance. 2. Send material as plain text to victor.bers at yale.edu as plain text (no HTML, other coding, or attachments) and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line. 3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames. _______________________________________ From: Binyumen Schaecter <[email protected]> Date: Feb. 8, 2016 Tayere Mendelyaner: In the early 1960s, the well-known Yiddish folklorists Chana and Yosl Mlotek created a medley of French songs, with lyrics in Yiddish and French, for "Felker-Yontef" (Holiday of Nations) at Camp Boiberik, in Rhinebeck, NY. More than 50 years later, it became the inspiration for The "Frantseyzisher popuri", the French Medley, which is now on YouTube, as of this past week. With "liner notes" underneath. Enjoy!
