With Pen and Paintbrush is in Yiddish with excellent English subtitles. The film will be accompanied by a bilingual poetry reading featuring Boris Sandler, former editor of the Yiddish Forward, Gitl Schaechter-Viswanath, Yiddish-language editor of Afn Shvel and the poetry of Yoni Fain read by Sheva Zucker, interviewer and producer of the film. In the film Fain discusses his life in Vilna before the war, his political activism as a Bundist in Warsaw, his years as a refugee in Shanghai, his relationship with Diego Rivera in Mexico, and his career as an art professor and writer in New York. This film is an unscripted interview between Sheva Zucker and Fain, enhanced by Fain's artwork, photo stills and music.
