Yiddish Books Available for Institutions The Center for Yiddish Culture, during its ten year history, published 13 Yiddish books in translation, held hundreds of programs on Yiddish culture, and taught Yiddish to thousands of students around the world. Since we've closed our doors to everything but online programs in 2005, we have an overabundance of two of our titles which make an excellent educational tool for young people and adult beginners of Yiddish learning.
The books are translations of two of Itzik Kipnis' fables, The Little House (der shtibele) and Four Butterflies (fir bobilekh) published bi-lingually with a pronunciation guide. As you might know, Kipnis was a world renowned creative Yiddish writer whose work celebrated modern, urban existence with an optimistic tone and minimalist poetic language. We are happy to offer bulk copies of these two titles to institutions that can use them in their educational programming (i.e. not for resale.) Eligible institutions must be able accept delivery of 50 or more copies of each title and have active Yiddish educational programming where these books can facilitate Yiddish learning. The Center only requests that the accepting institution pay for shipping and acknowledge the donation in whatever way they can. Please let us know your interest in utilizing these books by contacting us at www.yiddishculture.org and letting us know what your institution's name is, your mission, how you plan to utilize these books and how many copies of each you are requesting. a shaynem dank, David Weintraub (828) 692-8062 _______________________________________________ Mendele mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.yale.edu/mailman/listinfo/mendele
