Hello Fahd, I think it would be a great idea to link the two events. I agree that it would enrich the program of both and it would save folks some travel. I do acknowledge and support that MENOG is a technical forum but we had a very successful MENOG when it was held adjacent to an Arab IGF open consultation meeting (dealing more with governance and public policy) and a peering forum which is centered more around interconnections from a business perspective as we ll as technical. The event, in my opinion, was very successful.
MENOG does rotate, but one meeting is in Dubai as this seems to be a city that people claim is easy to travel to and attracts numbers from various Arabic countries. The Technical community in the Arabaic countries (as a community) is still very young and ways to pull them together probably a good idea. I have experienced that rotating events in the Middle East is a positive initative for the region but I have noted that in some Arabic countries you can expect to see mainly or only participants from that particular country. This may be a feature in some cases but difficult when you want to see views shared by individuals across the region - together. As for the comment on N. African coverage. AFNOG covers this part of the Arab world and I see no reason why this forum cannot team up with AFNOG there. I think this is only a question of coordination and believe we can find a positive way forward.
