Organizers intention was to create an independent event that would give a chance to mix various developer groups which are targeting different platforms - both open and closed. It is not like on those significant number of events when whole agenda is dedicated to a single platform, framework or solution, focusing only on the bright side of those technologies and not openly discussing their disadvantages. We want to clash different points of views and give an opportunity to fairly compare current solutions in the smart devices segment and show current trends. Mer is one of the platform that will be connected with at least three talks on SmartDevCon: "Navigating the waters between commercial and community" by Carsten Munk "Mer-Project based IVI Solution for Business Application" by Simon Bolek and about UX on top of Mer by Timur Kristof (exact title will be disclosed very soon) Other interesting things you can find at SmartDevCon: - FreeYourAndroid workshops led by Free Software Foundation Europe - "Torn Apart! – The challenge of choosing between closed and opened ecosystems" - talk by Michael Lauer (member of the initial core team of OpenMoko project) - "Boot your phone to the web, Boot to Gecko" - talk about Firefox OS by Martin de Keijzer Conference website: www.smartdevcon.eu Regards, Filip Kłębczyk SmartDevCon 2012 Steering Committee
