I find that I need to still run merb from a console window but
creating a new NetBeans "Ruby Rails with existing sources" project
works well - just select a current Merb project folder.

I have been using TextMate for Merb development but today I decided to
give NetBeans a try since that is my preferred Rails development
environment. NetBeans 6.5 is feature frozen, but if enough people ask
for Merb support (server and debugging) maybe the NetBean developers
will add support for the next major release.
