Hi -

I'm also have the same issues that anything in the $APP/gems/
directory seems to get ignored.

in config/init.rb ::

# ==== Set up load paths
Gem.clear_paths
Gem.path.unshift(Merb.root / "gems")

# ==== Dependencies
dependency 'dm-ar-finders'

will flunk (running with  bin/merb)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:merbquest/trunk]$ bin/
merb
(10-25 17:43)
Loaded full RubyGems instead of MiniGems
A gem was possibly implicitly loaded from /Users/dc/svn/merbquest/

 ~ FATAL: The gem dm-ar-finders (>= 0, runtime), [] was not found

but the gem exists here:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:merbquest/trunk]$ ls gems/gems/dm-ar-
finders-0.9.7

History.txt     LICENSE         Manifest.txt    README.txt      Rakefile

I assume "dependency()" is the way to go here, rather than loading
every gem with "require"?

I also tried
   Merb.push_path(:gems, Merb.root / "gems")

this is using the following versions (just pulled down from git so i
assume this is RC2,
however rc2 seems to include datamapper 096, at least if one uses the
thor tasks, so i pulled dm down separately):
