Use the framework based on your needs: you don't need more/less than the rails full stack and you are fine with its perfs, use Rails, otherwise, use Merb. My shop is fairly familiar with both. I'm just wondering about the upgrade. it sounds like it'll be an (TM) 'easy upgrade path' from either - but what this will mean in practice The migration path will be easy on both for projects from both frameworks. We will document everything and assist people in the migration, the same way we would have done it to merb 2.0. The great advantage of using merb now, is that it has a public API so we will be able to easily migrate it to the new 3.0 API. Concretely, we are planning on being able to replace merb-core by rails-core in your merb app and to use merb-helpers and other plugins with rails-core. I know it's scary for a lot of you, but rails 3.0 won't be out for another 6 to 9 months and the entire merb team is working hard on making sure everything is the way we like on top of that with the benefits of Rails. - Matt On Thu, Dec 25, 2008 at 4:08 AM, Rupert Voelcker <[email protected]> wrote: > >> My shop is fairly familiar with both.
