I've tested this and it seems that the metatag:

<meta http-equiv="msthemecompatible" content="no" />

causes scrollbars to vanish in FF3 on Mac OS X

git pull git://github.com/tooky/merbivore.git missing_scrollbars_ff3_mac_os_x

I've just removed it, not sure of the benefits of using it?
