Quick follow up for those who might stumble upon this thread on a google search. Jon was able to confirm the bug, but it turned out to be a mongrel-only issue. There is a fix now in Jon's branch which I expect will be merged into a forthcoming 1.1.1 release at some point. In the meantime, you can avoid the bug entirely by running merb with thin instead of mongrel:
